Closer look at Orphek’s new Atlantik Pendant 300 LED

The new Orphek Atlantik Pendant 300 is one beast of a hanging LED light. The extremely large size and proportions of the Atlantik Pendant 300 seem comical compared to regular home aquarium LED lights and pendants but not compared to a complete 1000 metal halide fixture with reflector that this light is designed to replace. Primarily targeted at public aquariums and institutions, the 60 LEDs are each backed up by large individual secondary lenses which help the fixture really punch a beam of light deep into large aquariums and for very high lighting needs. The Atlantik Pendant 300 sports a diversity of colors across its LED package which is available in a full spectrum configuration with a balance of white and colored LEDs, while a super actinic version will focus its diodes in the blue end of the spectrum. Atlantik V2.1 Mean Well Fanless driver Upgrade

Orphek Is Now Including a Mean Well Fanless Waterproof driver in all Atlantik V2.1 and V2.1B Models.

With this change, all Orphek LED models are now equipped with a Mean Well waterproof and fan less LED driver.  Mean Well is a recognized name in the industrial world and their drivers are frequently used in computer panels, machine relay panels and for LED billboards that are now coming to life around the world.  Mean Well builds their drivers with the very best components that will provide a very long life.



As of today, Orphek will no long supply a power box containing the driver and cooling fan.  All Atlantik V2.1 models will come standard with the Mean Well HLG-240H-48 Fan less Waterproof Driver which has an IP (Ingress Protection) rating of 65.  This rating means the driver is dustproof and protected against direct water spray.  To realize how good this is, most outdoor motion detectors only have an IP rating of 54.

The benefits of this driver are obviously its protection against harsh water environments associated with salt water aquariums.  The unit is also dead silent, no cooling fans needed even at 100% output.  Both the current and voltage are automatically regulated for high efficiency.  The driver is also equipped with Short Circuit Protection, Over Current Protection, Over Voltage Protection, and Over Temperature Protection.  Size is another advantage, especially for larger tanks requiring two or more Atlantiks to light the aquarium.  The unit measures 9.60 L x 2.67 W x 1.52 H inches.



Should there be any difference in price, we will announce this at a later date.  The Atlantik light unit has not changed so customers who have the old style drivers can update to the new driver for a modest cost.

When Orlando, Chad and Angelo decided to upgrade the lighting on their SPS table at Aqua Medic USA Live they knew they didn't have to look any further than Orphek. They've been fans of the Orphek Atlantik series of lights for a while and with the importance of healthy thriving corals to their wholesale only livestock business it was essential that they get the best spectrum and an intense light that is engineered to support SPS colonies.

The 6 foot table is lit by  2 units of Atlantik v2.1B wifi. The Dual chip LEDs offer higher lumens than the standard single chip models without consuming additional energy. The wifi control allows them to program the light for their business schedule and still be able to quickly adjust lighting for client or to make Angelo's job of photographing corals easier. Setup was a breeze and they were amazed by how much brighter the Atlantiks were than all their existing lighting. Looks like they might need to upgrade some of the other tables soon.
