The Orphek Atlantik Compact B Freshwater Planted Aquarium LED Lighting is a member of the Atlantik series of LED Pendants. Our design goal was to aid freshwater hobbyists in growing beautiful aquatic plants without relying on the sun or low PAR florescent tubes with spectrums not suitable for good plant growth.

The pendant also serves to bring out the vibrant colors found in many species of freshwater fish.

The Spectrum

Orphek understands that selecting the best fixture for your system is an important part of the overall success that you will achieve. We have refused to compromise with research, development and production. This expectation of high quality is evident in the spectrum that your Orphek Atlantik series light delivers.

Each unit consist of 42 LEDs and each LED has two separate LEDs to provide a total of 84 chip.  The Atlantik Compact is designed, produced and implemented with a specific goal in mind; to produce the best possible light for aquatic plants to grow and thrive and produce vibrant color.
Our spectral advancements are second to none in the industry as we refuse to use off the shelf LEDs, instead choosing to utilize custom made LED diodes that fit our exact specifications. This allows us to tailor our individual LED spectrum as well as the total fixture spectrum, unlike the competition that simply repackaged existing LED technologies, often adding in colors that can do more harm than good.


The LEDs were selected to duplicate the lighting spectrum beneficial for growing aquarium plants rapidly and producing thicker foliage and vibrant color.  Absorbing wavelengths in the blue and red spectrum are essential for growing taller plants.

Kris L. updates Atlantik LED Pendant lights

Kris L. updates us on his Atlantik LED Pendant lights.

Back in October one of our clients picked up two of the Orphek Atlantik Pendant LED lights for his 90 gallon coral reef aquarium. He chose the lights due to their wifi control, great coverage and consistent PAR. After installing them on his tank Kris found that they were everything he wanted. Since then Kris has maintained contact with Orphek throughout the acclimation period and is beginning to see results in his tank. He enjoys the ease of access to his rimless tank and the beautiful fixtures fit well in with the modern theme in is his living room.

Initially, Kris hung the lights consistently spaced across the tank and noticed a slightly dimmer area between them. This was cured by adjusting the lights so that they were 2 inches close to each other. As you can see in the 2 photos below the adjustment cured the issue.

Kris has now decided to upgrade to a 120 gallon aquarium and we got the opportunity to visit his home and see the current tank in place before it's replaced by the new one. The tank looks beautiful and Kris' plans for the new 120 gallon peninsula style tank are epic. The tank is a 120 gallon 48 inch x 24 inch x 24 inch rimless low iron glass tank imported from Germany. Kris plans to move the 2 Atlantik Pendants over to the new tank once it's up and running. The welded steel stand is powder-coated with lime green powdercoat and metallic silver flake. The resulting glow under actinics is stunning with a bright green glow and tiny flecks of blue reflections off the metallic flake. The stand will be skinned by a cabinet maker and internal LEDs will light the sump area up and make sure it stays a show piece. We look forward to progress updates from this build and wish Kris all the best success. Thanks for being part of the Orphek family Kris.

What does CE Certification Mean? 

Any product bearing the CE label means it has undergone a vigorous test to ensure the product is safe for use.  This means all products must conform to CE’s rigid specifications in terms of being shockproof and also for durability and conformity.  Conformity assures clients that all models of a product will be identical to each other and offer the same protection and reliability.



Some of the Orphek products also have a high IP (Ingress Protection) rating which assures protection from dust and water spray.

CE Certification is regarded by many to be better than other certifications in terms of safety.  Why, because products must conform to European standards which involve the use of much higher voltages.  Typical voltage in a European households ranges from 220V to 240V.

All Orphek products operate at very low DC voltages and are protected against short circuit, over voltage and current.

Harold gets his new tank up and running with LED lighting from Orphek and a skimmer too.

Harold M. and his wife in Illinois were excited to receive their new Atlantik v2.1B units for their 300 gallon starfire tank. This 8 foot long tank is 30 inches deep and 24 inches high. The 3 units of Atlantik v2.1B cover the tank perfectly without any shadowing or hot spots.

The Helix 5000 skimmer in the sump below gives Harold the ability to feed heavily once he gets the tank fully stocked, without fear of issues.

Speaking of stocking Harold has plans to stock the tank in a mixed reef format but plans to have it heavily populated with SPS corals throughout.

The Atlantik v2.1B gives him the ability to control 4 separate channels and create a custom light schedule with enough intensity for even the most light demanding corals that he hopes to keep. He seems to like the ability to control the lights via his tablet the best.

With 10 years experience we are sure that Harold will have a beautiful tank in the future and we look forward to seeing more from him and his wonderful wife and seeing this tank grow up.

Orphek Helix Skimmers Remove Waste Fast video

This video clearly shows why Orphek’s Helix Protein Skimmers are the best skimmers on the market.  The helix design vastly improves contact time in the reaction chamber while producing an enormous amount of very small micro bubbles.  The increased amount of micro bubbles results in more waste being collected per hour than any other conventional protein skimmer on the market.  It requires less space in the sump, unlike the large bulky skimmers that are commonly associated with larger tanks.  The helix design in combination with the high rpm 6500 lph DC pump moves large volumes of water in a spiral like fashion into the reaction chamber.  The helix further enhances the amount of micro bubbles produced.  This tandem creates a high speed cylindrical water motion which increases contact time resulting in collecting a large amount of waste.

As the video shows, a bubble column forms fast after start up, unlike other skimmers on the market which take time to develop.



Why is our helix skimmer better than the competition?  Because of our uniquely designed dual impeller and stainless steel spiral bubble diffuser that reduces the bubble size to increase more area for waste to adhere to. The results are more and smaller bubbles coupled with a high volume water movement into the reaction chamber.  The high flow horizontal water column increases bubble contact time in the which allows more time for waste to adhere to the bubbles.  Our unique bubble plate then diffuses the bubbles and reduces turbulence of the water entering the conically shaped riser tube which helps prevent premature bubble breakage of the nutrient rich bubbles entering the riser tube.



The new high volume 6,500 l/h DC controllable pump with controller offers high rpm impeller speed to move more water, more quickly, and more efficiently.  There is also a feed button on the controller to prevent premature extraction of additives or liquid coral foods. With a DC pump and controller, you can now take full control of your skimmer to give you exactly the skim you’re looking for.  The pump is very energy efficient, drawing only 40 watts of power at full rpm and features a long lasting durable ceramic shaft.

The videos you are about to view are some of the most amazing reef aquariums that are lit by Orphek LED Lights.  The videos clearly show what Orphek LED lighting can do for your reef tank as well as public aquarium displays.  A brief description of each video is presented below.



Our first video features Peter’s tank.  Peter lives in Canada and his 1300 gallon L shaped tank has been featured on Reef Central.  Peter does have an occasional open house to invitees only and needless to say there are never any no shows.





The second video is of Pieter’s six meter (19.5 feet) reef tank in the Netherlands.  Pieter’s tank is well known to experienced aquarists and is breathtaking to see in person but this video comes close.  Pieter’s tank was featured as tank of the month in the February, 2006 issue of Reefkeeping Magazine.  This massive aquarium has a total volume of 2,074 gallons.  The tank itself is 1,582 gallons but a 125 gallon seahorse tank, 152 gallon frag tank, and a 264 gallon sump are incorporated into the system.





The third video shows Moshiks 200 gallon reef tank.  His reef tank is truly a work of art and is one of the featured tanks on the Reef Central Forum.



The fourth video shows Rotterdam resident, Tanne Hoff’s beautiful 180 gallon reef aquarium that is lit by three Orphek Atlantik V1 LED fixtures.  Tanne uses the balling method for dosing required elements and does supplement a small amount of trace elements.





The fifth video is the Blue Planet Aquarium which is Denmark’s National Aquarium and located in Copenhagen.  Containing around 7 million litres of water, the Blue Planet is the largest aquarium in Europe and contains a total of 53 aquariums and displays, housing over 450 different species of fish and creatures that can be found in rivers, lakes and oceans.  This is one visit you will not soon forget.

What Atlantik Compact can do for Your Tank

What can one Atlantik Compact LED lighting  do for Your Tank, plenty!!  Our client Daniel in Indonesia decided to use one Atlantik Compact for his new install. As you can see there are no dark areas in Daniel's tank using the Atlantik Compact, just plenty of PAR and intensity and the Atlantik Compact's dimensions are only 13 x 9 inches.  No other LED fixture in it's class can come close to the performance of the Atlantik Compact.

In the client's old tank he used two DIY LED fixtures plus two Kessil pendants.  The client states the Atlantik Compact used in his new tank is much brighter and only requires one unit.
